Jericho Road Project was set up with the aim of supporting those who live on the streets and helping them to become functioning members of society, making their own contribution to their community. This ministry is rooted in the declarations of Isaiah 61 and God’s love for each person. Each week teams from JRP go out to meet rough sleepers and others who live on the street, building friendships and inviting them along to the Feast.
Those who come along get the chance to be part of two holidays each year. In 2009 we went to an outdoor centre in Chepstow in March and in August to our Encounter Camp in a Worcestershire village.

Low Support Housing
Since 2004 we have operated low support houses for those who are ready for a more settled way of life.

Our low support housing provides accommodation and support for 26 people within 6 houses. Rough sleepers, the homeless, ex-offenders, those coming out of substance abuse rehab and those with mild mental health issues – our residents would come from all of these groups. Each resident has a personal support plan and a designated key worker who they meet with weekly to discuss employment, health, relationships and spiritual issues. For those who want to change as well as needing accommodation, a place in a JRP house can be an important step into a more stable and fulfilled life. In providing a physical home for vulnerable people we hope they will also find a spiritual home.
Rent is deliberately kept at a reasonable level to encourage residents to seek work. Training opportunities are provided for all residents and include basic food hygiene and first aid.
To be considered for a place, potential residents need to fulfill certain basic criteria for acceptance. If you wish to make a referral for someone on the basis of these conditions, please complete the initial assessment form and e-mail it to Simon Allen.
Where appropriate we interview prospective residents as soon as we can. This is dependent on a suitable referral and also on vacancies within the houses. All applicants for a place in a house are expected to provide proof of identity.
Andy Moffat, who works full-time for the project, supervises the men’s houses. (amoffat@kingscentre.org.uk)
Liz Surridge, who volunteers for one day a week, oversees the women’s house. (jrp@kingscentre.org.uk)
Simon Allen heads up the Jericho Road Project and associated projects.
